Its been a while since our last update, and some great stuff piled in our servers from Something On The Road growing label, ready to be delivered to our listeners. It is a mixture of original Israeli artists and some Israeli distribution of well respectful artist across the globe, and It is as well a mixture of hip hop to noise to electronic to indie rock releases. Something to (almost) everyone for sure.
In the last year SOTR released a series of four singles remixing Zadik Zecharia traditional kurdish tunes. wrapping these remixes to a one convenient release was an obvious step and the additional of four never released before remixes (including one from KSR) makes this release a real treat. Available as a free downloadat our site. One of the remixers in the Zadik Zecharia album is the talented hip-hop dj and producer dj, caress. Caress is working hard these days on his debut album and meanwhile he spoils us with his first single that acts as a great appetizer until the complete album will be issued. The single is available as a free download at our site. The Young Puritans have just released their debut album, and if taking the fact that they started performing in 1999, they sure set a great example to laziness (respect!). Produced by the “yuppies with jeeps” The Last Album shows Israeli indie rock at his best. Three tracks from this release are available at our download page
Poochlatz are an Israeli noise-drones-metal group whom members are involved in the Israeli far-left music scene for quite a while (vultures, Lietterschpich and others) 'thanks for giving in' their latest effort, recorded live in 2006, is available as a free download at our website. Still in the more experimental field, comes the new release of d.opp & lil' oof - the lagan tapes. d. Opp & lil' oof are both members of the experimental group Lietterschpich and the 'lagan tapes' was actually recorded during Lietterschpich tour in ireland, when both members were walking across River Lagan and David was thumping on fences and banging on random garbage cans with his bare hands, while Lil' oof was documenting the rawkus with her broken Sony TCM-323 Cassette-Corder . This release is also available as a free download at our website.
SOTR also released for the Israeli market a well respectful releases from two fascinating artists. The first on is Ed Yazijian's 'Six Ways To Avoid The Evil Eye' . Ed performed with Sun City Girls, Dredd Foole and others. We offer two tracks from this release as a free download. The second international album released by SOTR is Eskimo King's 'tooth shaped migration'. Sorry, but no mp3's for this release. just a reminder, if you wish to show your support for the SOTR label and artists, you can buy all these albums (as well as all miklataklitim releases) through the Basement web store.
We also updated our pop posters section with some new art. And there are new vidoe-clips created by dub-mi - here on youTube. Check it out.

Commercial west coast Hip-Hop. This is (mostly) what KSR has been listening to in the last year, during the recording sessions of Avadon Dub, his 5th solo album. Though it may not be an obvious influence and not the first reference that come in mind in a glance listening, some elements are noticeable when digging deeper into the album. You find it in the beats, sample working and feel. This is his most accessible work yet, with tracks clocking around three minutes and strong melodic structure. This album is available as a free download right here at our site, as well in beautifully designed CDR release through the basement webstore and selected stores in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Further more, two additional KSR related tracks are available to download. The first is a remix Mule Driver (Ak Duck) made for Okyanus Kafu track. The 2nd track is an instrumental version for Zinger Dub. Both tracks are originally from Avadon Dub, and both are available as a free download right here. Also, check out KSR on myspace and purevolume.
We discontinued the document DJ set series a while back, and we kinda miss it a bit. Luckily Something On The Road had just released a remarkably great set that we glad to share. The set features hardcore oriental sound and songs of both Arabic and Israeli artists, ranging from classic to pop and alternative. Grab it from here. This set is also available in a limited CDR through selected stores.

Fact records web store R.I.P, long lives the Basement. Though it caused us a bit sorrow to see the old fact records website going down, it is only a natural evolution to see the basement (part of the old fact records website) coming on top, handling not only Fact, Miklataklitim and SOTR releases, but also many other independent artists and labels. If you like to support the artists featured in our website (as well as other artists), the traditional way is to visit the Basementweb store and grab the music you like. The navigation is much clearer now and prices and shipping fees are very reasonable.
KSR is in the final stages of polishing, adjusting and assembling the art work for his new album 'Avadon dub' scheduled to be released just in a few weeks. We are really excited about this album, and we will offer you this release in our next update. Latifa Punk performed live at the c.sides festival two months ago, and if you haven't done so yet, you can downloadand enjoy her performance from the c.sides podcasts website.
The last couple of months were wonderfully busy for the Something On The Road label, with four new releases added to its catalogue. The first one is a DVD (transformed from the original VHS), documenting Zadik Zecharia live performance at the Mondial Hall back in 1987 in what Zadik sees as the most natural habitat for his Kurdish traditional music – wedding fests. Zadik work is getting more and more attention worldwide. His album just got released in the UK by Bo' weavil Recordings, and got a rave recommendation from Other Musicin last week update. We offer you this release in both XVID (AVI) and WMV video formats. The 2nd release is vol.2 of Maurice's Rock Stories, where he continues his marvelous storytelling on the history of the rock from his own point of view, this time focusing on the early 70' rock scene. This release is also available in our Downloads page, but be aware people around the globe, all texts are in Hebrew. The 3rd release is a 3" CDR by Mule Driver (ak duck, the models) titled 'The Proud Ones'and based on a 50' western theme carrying the same name. Mule Driver uses analogue synth sounds that creates a dreamy and hypnotic four piece mini album. Check it out in our Downloads page. The 4th release is Campfire by Bonecloud, an Irish due making ambient – noise – drone music. Originally released as a split with Ghosting by the Yarnlazer label. No mp3, sorry, but you can listen and download excerpt from this release from Bonecloud's myspace page.
We got a new friend, and his name is Ryskinder. Not that we think that our social life is an interest of anyone, but this is the kind of friend that we can add to our 'LH friends' section in miklataklitim website, and Ryskinder is a very good friend as he gave us (and all) his full debut release 'Tsarot Shel Ashirim'. Originally released by 'ze behavana records' companioned with the MFM fanzine,it is full of lovely lo-fi indie electronic and pop tunes. Check it out in our mp3 downloadspage

It's been a while since our last update and we have some nice pile of releases and tracks for your enjoyment.
Kinoro Shel Rothschild is half way through in recording his 5th full length album. Until it is released, you can check out several tracks and remixes he made, that were just added to the site. 'fuck c.sides dub' was created in response to the c.sides organizers decision to censored out (the c.sides hypocrites use the term "curatorial decision", which is of course, the politically correct translation of censorship) his track from the festival compilation because of his use of sound samples from porn movies. We feel somewhat uncomfortable with this thing. The Jerusalem scene is small and intimate. We hang out in the same bars and some of our artists and friends are going to perform in the c.sides festival, but the 'fuck c.sides' is so much fun and fine track that it is totally worth the fuss. Check it out in our mp3 downloads page.
KSR also brings two new tracks. The first one is a remix to the Pits'audrey hepburn', originally from the Pits s/t debut album. This remix is part of agitpop project of remixes due to be released in (hopefully) the near future. The 2nd track, 'okyanus kafu dub' is based on gabriel belachsan's text from 'okyanus kafu' originally features in belachsan's debut album 'rakavot'. Following the 'ohana dub' single, comes a new single, again dedicated to former coach of Beitar Jerusalem soccer team. 'kannen dub', a three piece single, plays tribute to the fired coach who failed in understanding the local soccer politics, but gained respect from the fans.
From Something On The Road comes two new releases. The first is the 4th vol. of Zadik Zecharia's remixes series. This time, Zecharia's traditional Kurdish zorna tunes, confronts the aggressive noise approach of Poochlatz (Vultures, Lietterschpich) and Finkelstein (Lietterschpich, Ta'apet). You can download it freely from our mp3 downloads page. The 2nd release is Israeli distribution of 3" CDR by Grouper, released earlier this year via the Yellow Swans' Jyrk label. You can sample one track from this dream-drone release in our website. Peace

It has been over a year since miklataklitim last proper release (ksr – requiem dub), and we are glad to break this drought with a truly marvelous album, a 2XCD titled 'broken breaths' created by the lovely and talented latifa punk. Her music can be described as a collage of various influences, from oriental and Arabic sounds to hip-hop and techno beats, dipped in ambiance sound and soundtrack feel. As a reference, latifas music is somewhere between the works of Mutamassik and People Like Us, but with her own unique voice. Enough with words, just browse to the mp3 downloads page and judge for yourself. dub.mi did a great job (as usual) with the artwork. The booklet is actually a five changeable postcards, each can be selected by the cd owner as a front cover. So, if you like this album, consider spoiling yourself with this inexpensive treat. It can be purchased in selected stores (Uganda and Balance in jerusalem and the Third-ear in tel-aviv for start) and online through factrecords web store. We will celebrate this release in Uganda store, Thursday, March 30, 22:00. Scabies (agitpop) and shuffle will play some tunes, and we hope to see you there with us.
Something On The Road label has been amazingly active lately, and we are glad to introduce you to its three new releases. The first one is the debut mini album by nico-teen, titled 'work shop' (co-released with ak-duck) an electro pop treat, spiced with some noise. Zohar shafir, the girl behind the nico-teen alias (it is the ladies month we guess) has been active in many acts here in Jerusalem in the past few years (k.g.babes, spark O, to name a few) and it is nice to see her doing well on her own. Two tracks from this release are available in our mp3 downloads page. The second SOTR release is the third in the series of remixes EP's made for Zadik Zecharia kurdish tracks. This time our friends from the Teder label, Gal Tushia and David Ovadia, were challenged to create the remixes. The result is in our mp3 downloads page. The third SOTR release is the label first compilation, gathering some great tracks. Again, it is fully available in our mp3 downloads page. if you like these releases you can buy them online in factrecords web store.

it was about a year and a half ago, when we claimed that the debut album of Latifa Punk will be ready for release in a matter of weeks. Maybe we didn't take into consideration our natural laziness, or the difficulties of giving birth to an artist first album, but the good news is that we just got all the tracks mastered and ready to be delivered to our listeners. This massive double album, titled 'broken breaths' will, hopefully, see the day of light in a month or so, after dub-ni will finish the design and packaging work. We also intend to release a third cd of out-takes as a web only release. We are very proud in this album and impatiently waiting for it to be released.
Meanwhile, we offer you the 2nd vol. Of Zadik Zecharia's remix singles. The first track, remixed by Yayehe Smon, puts Zecharia's traditional Kurdish music as a companion to a market field recording sound. The 2nd remix, created by Dj Kube and Yayehe, points to the dance floor. You can download this single from our mp3 downloads page, or you could buy this single (and the original Zadik Zecharia album) directly from factrecords web store.
Not our release, but well worth the mention, the Birdsong net label, has just reissued one of our favorite factrecords works, Ariel Caine's s/t mini album from 2001. This release never got the attention it deserves, and hopefully this free download reissue will bring this album to a new and wider crowd, so check it out.
